HE MADE THIS SPEECH IN NEW YORK ..
The Plan!

Robin Williams, wearing a shirt that says 'I love New York ' in Arabic.

You gotta love Robin Williams......Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

'I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan.'

1) 'The US will apologize to the world for our 'interference' in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good 'ole' boys', we will never 'interfere' again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East , and the Philippines . They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign 'students' over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a 'D' and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

Cool If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not 'interfere.' They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us 'Ugly Americans' any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH..learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

'The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' '

I didn't like it - nice they don't feel they need to apologise to Korea, Vietnam, nicaragua, el Salvador, Chile, Grenada, etc etc for interference, only dictators that they were happy to tolerate as long as they did what they wanted!!

aren't there parts of the US where spannish was spoken before English, and what about native languages - apparently you have to fuck off if you speak them Rolling Eyes

Just a load of pretty bigoted horseshit if you ask me, but then, nobody id Laughing Laughing

I know it was meant to be a joke, but it was a "look at all the great things America has done so forget about the crap things" rant wrapped up in a joke. There's no peace plan in it, just xenophobia and hate.

Thank you strabo for the snopes link. I'm glad Robin Williams didn't say it. I like him and wouldn't want to think he was a bigoted asshole.

When I see things like this, I almost immediately know that it's not the person they say said it.

I agree with the xenophobia and hate angle. No one in their right mind would say things like that in a public setting - if they do, they're just an asshole with a loud mouth.

It's true that some Americans are not formally educated, but if they made enough money to go hopping around the globe and exposing themselves (figuratively speaking - and perhaps literally too), Then perhaps the people who are offended by their "unclassy" behavior might want to take a look at just how someone of this ilk made enough money to gallevant around the world as a vacation.

The United States is not perfect, but there has been very good things developed here and shared with the world.

You also have the opportunity to move beyond the limitations of your birth in the US than in the majority of the rest of the world. Which is why so many people come here, legal or not. Like it or not, the typical rags to riches story contains a modicum of truth.

Certainly, the attitude of the French people today is very different from the ones that gave us the Statue of Liberty. Countries change just as much as people's attitudes.

I think it's terrible what the US has done in the last few decades. Hopefully, we have put in place the mechanism to begin to swing the pendulum the other way, but those in power will not go softly into that dark night - count on it.

It won't happen overnight. It may not happen at all.

Bash the US all you want. I still think this country is the best - even with it's warts and boils.

As the wife of a former illegal immigrant, I was also relieved to know that Robin Williams didn't write/say the piece too. There were some funny bits, but there was also some unfunny mixed in with it.

That is one nasty piece of chest-thumping, flag-waving, jingoistic horse shit. I have seen the Ugly American abroad, and avoid them at all costs. But, having said that, I have also seen the Ugly Frenchman in the Flemish part of Belgium. We don't have a monopoly on xenophobia or narrow-mindedness.

Certainly not. In my job, I get to see Ugly from all nationalities.
